The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens offers an entry-level opportunity to start a career in healthcare. The apprenticeship program is designed to help individuals become certified pharmacy technicians, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the pharmacy care industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
- Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
- Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
