About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centric care in a pharmacy setting. This position involves assisting pharmacists with various pharmacy duties, engaging with customers to enhance their experience, and participating in a comprehensive training program that prepares you for certification as a Pharmacy Technician. The role emphasizes the importance of building strong relationships with patients and utilizing technology to support pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills preferred.
• Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
