About the position

The Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens plays a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. This position involves direct interaction with customers, fostering strong patient relationships, and utilizing advanced technology to support pharmacy operations. The role includes participating in a recognized training program that prepares individuals for certification and career advancement in the healthcare field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine correctness, and checking for interactions.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
