About the position
The Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centric care within the pharmacy environment. This position focuses on building strong relationships with customers while assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations. The role includes participating in a comprehensive training program aimed at achieving certification and enhancing skills necessary for a successful career in pharmacy.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
- Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
- Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
- Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
Requirements
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
