As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. This apprenticeship program serves as an entry point into the healthcare field, guiding you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician and helping you maintain the high skill level required in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. You will be responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with coaching pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems. Your responsibilities will also include engaging customers and patients, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience. You will model and share customer service best practices with team members, ensuring that every interaction is distinctive and delightful. Additionally, you will assist in the operational aspects of the pharmacy, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow. You will be accountable for registering sales on the cash register, handling cash, and assisting with inventory management activities. The role also involves maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy environment and developing relationships with the local medical community. As you progress, you will earn and maintain your PTCB certification, attend training sessions, and acquire continuing education credits, all while gaining valuable experience that qualifies for college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE).
