About the position

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a more patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and ensuring satisfaction. Your role will involve operational tasks such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow, all while adhering to Walgreens' policies and procedures. Additionally, you will participate in training and personal development activities, earning and maintaining your PTCB certification through the designated training program. This position not only offers a pathway to certification but also provides valuable on-the-job experiences and foundational knowledge necessary for a successful career in pharmacy. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and labeling of samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy duties under supervision.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
