The apprenticeship program is recognized by the ASHP and the Department of Labor, allowing you to earn while you learn, and guiding you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician. This certification is a nationally recognized credential that will enhance your career prospects in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in various tasks, including processing prescriptions, managing patient information, and providing excellent customer service. You will engage with customers, helping them find the products and services they need, and resolving any issues they may encounter. The position emphasizes a patient-centric approach, moving away from traditional transaction-based interactions to building strong relationships with customers. Your daily responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Basic math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Good computer skills for operating pharmacy systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
