About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care in a pharmacy environment. This position emphasizes customer interaction and relationship building, while also offering a comprehensive training program that prepares you for certification as a Pharmacy Technician. You will assist pharmacists in various duties, utilize pharmacy systems, and ensure a positive customer experience, all while adhering to state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties under supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
