About the position

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a more patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. You will be responsible for utilizing pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring accurate information entry. If you are PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in operating pharmacy systems and cash registers. Your primary focus will be on delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. You will also assist in pharmacy operations, including filling prescriptions, verifying medications, and reporting any prescription errors to the pharmacist. Your responsibilities will extend to managing inventory, maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy environment, and supporting clinical services as needed. Continuous personal development is encouraged, with opportunities to earn continuing education credits and maintain your PTCB certification. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist the pharmacist in various pharmacy duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
