About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharm Tech Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care and support within the pharmacy. This position offers an opportunity to engage with customers, assist pharmacists, and develop strong relationships while gaining valuable skills through a recognized apprenticeship program. You will be equipped with the tools and training necessary to advance your career in healthcare, all while contributing to the well-being of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist in administering clinical services as required.
  • Maintain good relationships with the local medical community through outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists and engage with customers effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
