About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system, providing essential support to pharmacists and ensuring that customers receive the best possible care. The apprenticeship program is recognized by the ASHP and the Department of Labor, offering a structured pathway to becoming a certified pharmacy technician. You will receive comprehensive training that includes both foundational and advanced knowledge, as well as hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting. Your daily responsibilities will involve interacting with customers, assisting them with their healthcare needs, and building strong relationships to enhance their experience. You will be responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Additionally, you will assist pharmacists in various tasks, including inventory management and the administration of clinical services. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems and cash registers.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
