About the position

The Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centric care within the pharmacy environment. This position involves direct interaction with customers, assisting pharmacists, and utilizing pharmacy systems to manage prescriptions and patient information. The role emphasizes the importance of customer service, operational efficiency, and adherence to regulatory standards, while also providing opportunities for professional growth through a recognized training program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Experience in a retail environment is preferred, ideally six months.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
• PTCB certification is preferred.
