You will be guided through the process of becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician, which is a nationally recognized credential that will enhance your career prospects in the healthcare sector. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in various tasks, including processing prescriptions, managing patient information, and providing excellent customer service. You will engage with customers, helping them find the products and services they need while ensuring a positive experience. The pharmacy environment is dynamic and patient-centric, focusing on building strong relationships with customers and providing them with the support they need to lead healthier lives. Your daily responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and assisting with inventory management. You will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples, and developing relationships with local healthcare providers. The position requires adherence to state and federal regulations, as well as company policies, to ensure the highest standards of pharmacy practice are maintained. Continuous training and personal development are key components of this role, as you will be expected to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and stay updated on the latest developments in healthcare and pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and nurses.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Strong communication skills to engage with customers and provide excellent service.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately fill prescriptions and manage patient information.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills for managing pharmacy systems.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
