As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. This position requires you to develop strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and that they receive the highest level of service. Operationally, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow under the supervision of the pharmacist. You will report any prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies regarding quality improvement. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy department in various clerical duties. Your role may also involve assisting pharmacists in administering clinical services and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community. To succeed in this position, you will need to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and participate in ongoing training and education. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
