In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in various tasks, including processing prescriptions, managing patient information, and providing excellent customer service. You will engage with customers, helping them find the products and services they need while resolving any issues they may encounter. The pharmacy environment is dynamic and patient-centric, focusing on building strong relationships with customers to improve their health and well-being. Your daily responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will also assist in inventory management, maintain a clean and organized pharmacy, and support clinical services as needed. Continuous training and personal development are key components of this position, as you will be expected to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and stay updated on the latest developments in healthcare and pharmacy practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and other healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and patients effectively.
• Detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
• Responsible and trustworthy in handling sensitive patient information.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Good computer skills for managing pharmacy systems and inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
