This apprenticeship will guide you in becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician, ensuring you maintain the high standards required in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you are PTCB certified. You will also engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. The position requires you to model customer service best practices and develop strong relationships with customers, enhancing their overall experience at Walgreens. Additionally, you will be involved in operational tasks such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and managing inventory. You will also assist in clinical services, maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy environment, and complete special assignments as needed. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies and is clean and orderly.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy under supervision.
• Basic computer skills to operate pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
