About the position

The Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centric care within the pharmacy environment. This position involves direct interaction with customers, assisting pharmacists, and utilizing pharmacy systems to manage prescriptions and patient information. The role emphasizes the importance of customer service and relationship building while providing opportunities for professional growth through a recognized training program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
