About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centric care in a pharmacy setting. This position involves assisting pharmacists with various pharmacy operations, engaging with customers to enhance their experience, and participating in a comprehensive training program that prepares you for certification as a Pharmacy Technician. The role emphasizes the importance of building strong relationships with patients and utilizing the latest technology to support pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, such as ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with local medical community.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Must have a valid Pharmacy Technician Certification certification or be willing to obtain it.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
