About the position

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. This position places you at the forefront of customer interaction, allowing you to develop strong relationships with patients while providing essential pharmacy services. This apprenticeship program serves as an entry point into the healthcare field, guiding you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician. You will receive comprehensive training that equips you with the foundational and advanced knowledge necessary to excel in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and, if certified, coach other pharmacy technicians in system operations. Your responsibilities will also include engaging with customers, resolving their issues, and ensuring a positive experience. You will model customer service best practices and develop strong relationships with valued customers, contributing to a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Additionally, you will assist in the operational aspects of the pharmacy, including entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow. You will be responsible for reporting any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhering to the company's policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing. This position requires you to handle cash transactions and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products when necessary. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Enter patient and drug information accurately into pharmacy systems.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Verify that the correct medicine is dispensed and check for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist customers in locating products in the OTC aisle.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education required.
  • No prior experience necessary.
