About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprentice at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care and building relationships with customers. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow within the healthcare field while assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations. The apprenticeship program is designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a certified pharmacy technician, ensuring you have a solid foundation for a successful career in pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services as required.
  • Maintain good relationships with the local medical community through outreach efforts.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.

Requirements

  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists and engage with customers effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
