You will receive extensive training that includes foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and hands-on experiences necessary for success in the pharmacy care industry. In your daily responsibilities, you will assist pharmacists under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and coach other pharmacy technicians. Your role will also involve engaging with customers, resolving their issues, and providing a delightful customer experience. You will be responsible for various operational tasks, including filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment. Additionally, you will have opportunities for personal development through training and continuing education, which can lead to further career advancement within Walgreens.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and other healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Experience in a retail environment is preferred, ideally six months.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control are preferred.
  • PTCB certification is preferred.

  • Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
