You will be guided through the process of becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician, which is a nationally recognized credential that will enhance your career prospects in the healthcare sector. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in various tasks, including processing prescriptions, managing patient information, and providing excellent customer service. You will engage with customers, helping them find the products and services they need while resolving any issues they may encounter. The pharmacy environment is dynamic and patient-centric, focusing on building strong relationships with customers to improve their health and well-being. Your daily responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will also assist in inventory management and maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment. Continuous training and personal development are key components of this position, as you will be expected to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and stay updated on the latest developments in healthcare and pharmacy practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy environment.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
