About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to provide a patient-centric experience in the pharmacy environment. This role involves assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations while engaging with customers to enhance their experience. The position includes participation in a recognized training program that prepares individuals for certification as a Pharmacy Technician, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge for a career in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
