This apprenticeship program will guide you in taking steps towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the pharmacy care industry. In this role, you will assist pharmacists in various tasks, including processing prescriptions, managing pharmacy systems, and providing exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for obtaining patient and drug information, filling prescriptions accurately, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will also include engaging with customers, resolving their issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. You will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with customers and contribute to a positive pharmacy experience. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and other healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
