The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is a transformative role focused on patient care and customer interaction. This position allows individuals to earn while they learn through a recognized training program, preparing them for certification as a Pharmacy Technician. The role emphasizes the importance of developing strong relationships with customers and providing exceptional service while assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
- Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
- Process manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely manner.
- Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.
Requirements
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Nice-to-haves
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
