In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians if you hold PTCB certification. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty. Operationally, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information accurately, filling prescriptions, and checking for potential drug interactions. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere strictly to company policies regarding dispensing practices. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Your role may also involve assisting in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples, and fostering relationships with local healthcare providers to enhance growth opportunities for the pharmacy. To succeed in this position, you will need to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and participate in ongoing training and education. The apprenticeship program offers valuable college credit hours, further enhancing your qualifications in the healthcare field. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Enter patient and drug information accurately and fill prescriptions as required.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
  • Handle cash transactions and register all related sales on the cash register.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy environment.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
