About the position

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a more patient-centric one. This position places you at the forefront of customer interaction, allowing you to develop strong relationships with patients while providing essential pharmacy services. Walgreens is committed to supporting your career growth through its "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program, which is recognized by the ASHP and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program serves as an entry point into the healthcare field, guiding you towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician. This certification not only enhances your skills but also provides you with a nationally recognized credential that is portable and valuable in advancing your career in pharmacy. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy department duties in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations. You will be responsible for utilizing pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring accurate medication dispensing. If you are PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers. Your primary focus will be on delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging with customers, resolving issues, and providing assistance with products and services. You will also assist in operational tasks such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and maintaining workflow under the supervision of the pharmacist. Reporting any prescription errors immediately and adhering to the company's policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing are critical responsibilities. Additionally, you will handle cash register transactions, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy department in various clerical duties. This position also involves maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy environment and developing relationships with local healthcare providers to enhance growth opportunities for the pharmacy. Training and personal development are key components of this role.
