About the position

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in transforming the pharmacy experience from a transaction-based environment to a more patient-centric one. In this role, you will assist the pharmacist under direct supervision, performing various pharmacy duties in compliance with state and federal regulations. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and coaching other pharmacy technicians in system operations. You will also be responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and modeling best practices in customer service. Your ability to develop strong relationships with customers will be key to your success in this position. Operationally, you will assist in the pharmacy's daily functions, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with company policies. You will report any prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to the company's Quality Improvement Program. Additionally, you will handle cash register operations, assist with inventory management, and support the pharmacy in maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Your role may also involve assisting in clinical services, such as collecting and labeling samples, and fostering relationships with local healthcare providers. To succeed, you will need to earn and maintain your PTCB certification and participate in ongoing training and education. The apprenticeship program offers valuable college credit hours, further enhancing your qualifications in the healthcare field. Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples from patients.
• Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Must be willing to earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
