About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is designed to provide individuals with a pathway into the healthcare field, focusing on patient-centric care. This role involves assisting pharmacists in various pharmacy operations while developing strong relationships with customers and patients. The position emphasizes training and certification, allowing participants to earn while they learn through a recognized apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow in the pharmacy.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors.
  • Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Pharmacy Technician Certification certification or be willing to obtain it.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
  • Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills are preferred.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
