About the position

The Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens is a transformative role focused on patient care and customer interaction. This position allows individuals to earn while they learn through a recognized training program, preparing them for certification as a Pharmacy Technician. The role emphasizes developing strong patient relationships and utilizing advanced pharmacy systems to assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
