About the position

The Pharmacy Technician (Pharm Tech) - Sterile Compounding role at UVA Medical Center involves preparing and delivering medications to patients and nursing units under the supervision of licensed pharmacists. The position requires competency in sterile compounding and adherence to policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care. The technician will also participate in training new employees and maintain adequate supplies for continuous patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Demonstrates competency in sterile compounding areas of pharmacy practice.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Minimum of 6 months relevant experience
• Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
• CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
