About the position

The Adecco office located in Irvine, CA is currently recruiting for Pharmacy Technicians available for a job opportunity in Costa Mesa and Cypress, CA. This position requires an active pharmacy technician license for the state in which the technician will be working. The essential functions of a pharmacy technician in Prior Authorization include providing expertise and customer service support to members, customers, and/or providers. The role exists to take incoming requests for prior authorizations for both formulary and non-formulary medications, ensuring a high level of customer service while maximizing productivity. Requests can be received via fax or telephone from providers' offices and pharmacists. The pharmacy technician will provide clinical review for authorizations in accordance with legal and contractual requirements, including but not limited to turnaround times and service level agreements. It is crucial for the technician to provide information clearly, accurately, and in a professional manner. All interactions with callers must be documented per contractual and various regulatory/legal requirements. This role is vital in maintaining the integrity of the pharmacy's operations and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Using established criteria and guidelines, the pharmacy technician receives and processes prior authorization requests made by providers and members for medications not inherently covered on a member's prescription drug plan.
  • Answer prior authorization inquiry calls or/and faxes as well as research and resolve formulary and benefit issues using the appropriate reference material.
  • Resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Handle inbound phone requests and gather member data to provide information for Pharmacist consultations.

Requirements

  • Active pharmacy technician license for the state of California.
  • Experience in customer service and support in a pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge of formulary and non-formulary medications.
  • Ability to document interactions clearly and accurately according to regulatory requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with prior authorization processes.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy benefit management systems.
