About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children plays a crucial role in providing operational support and medication distribution services within the pharmacy department. This position is essential for ensuring the safety and efficacy of medication management for pediatric patients, contributing to the hospital's mission of delivering high-quality care to children and young adults in Central Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Assists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician II functions.
  • Operates equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with safety regulations and policies.
  • Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area.
  • Assists the Pharmacist in medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of medications.
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining controlled substance vault and perpetual inventory.
  • Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians as needed.
  • Maintains advanced expertise in specialized practice areas, such as medication history acquisition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate (CPht) from a nationally recognized program.
  • Greater than four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
