About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at Select Specialty Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations by ensuring the accurate preparation and delivery of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position is PRN/Per Diem, requiring flexibility to work as needed, primarily during daytime hours without weekend shifts. The technician will contribute to the overall mission of providing exceptional patient care in a compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete a variety of pharmacy tasks and services, including daily operations of the pharmacy within established policies and guidelines.
• Work under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and independently manage pharmacy tasks.
• Pick up drug orders at nursing stations and prepare medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Deliver appropriate quantities of medication to the correct patient areas.
• Assist with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications.
• Maintain drugs in the pharmacy according to the Drug Formulary, including ordering, receiving, storing, and filling out necessary paperwork.
• Monitor doses administered according to the Medication Administration Record on the narcotics sign-out record.
• Maintain all forms and reports necessary for the control of narcotics and other controlled substances.

Requirements

• Current West Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
• Ability to create compound medications, IV fluids, nutritional mixtures, etc.
