About the position

The Pharmacy Technician position at Discount Drug Mart involves assisting licensed pharmacists in filling prescription requests and managing pharmacy operations. This role is essential for ensuring that patients receive their medications accurately and efficiently. The position is available for both full-time and part-time schedules, with training provided for those without prior pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive and fill prescription requests from patients, hospitals, and healthcare providers.
• Retrieve prescription orders and prepare medications by counting, pouring, measuring, and weighing tablets and liquids.
• Mix medications and select appropriate prescription containers.
• Create prescription labels and ensure accuracy before handing over to the pharmacist.
• Handle daily operations of the pharmacy, including patient interactions and communication with doctors' offices.
• Prepare insurance claims and maintain patient profiles.
• Complete cash register transactions and manage inventory of over-the-counter medications.
• Stay informed about the latest medications and their availability.

Requirements

• Valid Pharmacy Technician License.
• Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (preferred).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience as a pharmacy technician (1 year preferred).
• Strong customer service skills and ability to multitask.
