About the position

The Pharmacy Technician in Purchasing and Inventory Management at SSM Health is a vital role responsible for the procurement of pharmaceuticals and supplies in accordance with the established procedures set by pharmacy administration. This position ensures that appropriate levels of medication inventory are maintained while also overseeing the segregation and removal of outdated or recalled products. The technician strives for contract compliance and aims to procure low-cost items, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy operations. In this role, the technician will work closely with both internal and external customers to provide necessary information regarding product details, drug recall issues, and pricing inquiries. Building and maintaining effective partnerships with vendors is crucial, as the technician will need to contact them regarding pricing discrepancies, errors in received medications, and to ensure that service level expectations are met. The technician will also be responsible for meeting managerial information requests promptly, providing essential data for decision-making, problem-solving, and management reporting. Additionally, the technician will keep internal customers informed about medication shortages or delays and will review medication orders for completeness and any deviations from normal ordering patterns. This involves collaborating with requesters to address and resolve any concerns prior to placing orders. The technician will maintain a log of invoices received from outside vendors, process the invoices through the appropriate systems, and ensure that the invoice amounts are allocated to the correct pharmacy sub-accounts.
