About the position

The Pharmacy Technician position at Aurora Pharmacy involves providing essential support in a retail pharmacy setting. The role focuses on customer service, medication dispensing, insurance verification, and compliance with pharmacy regulations. The technician will work full-time during the first shift, including every third Saturday, and will be responsible for various pharmacy operations to ensure efficient service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develops competency in servicing pharmacy customers, including obtaining and recording initial demographic information.
  • Performs data entry of required information into the pharmacy system for record keeping, insurance verification, and label generation.
  • Dispenses and delivers medications, utilizing information systems and technology for dispensing and storage.
  • Handles insurance and third-party billing functions, including data entry and obtaining prior authorizations.
  • Promotes the sale of diabetic footwear and assists customers with selection and fitting, including insurance billing.
  • Floats between multiple Aurora Pharmacy locations as needed, developing competency in pharmacy workflow.
  • Complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substance procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student in Wisconsin.
  • Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Good mathematic skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills and good customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Diabetic shoe fitting certification (to be obtained through on-the-job training).
  • Life support training courses may be required depending on department discretion.
