The Pharmacy Technician Student position is designed for individuals who are currently pursuing their education in pharmacy technology and are looking to gain practical experience in a pharmacy setting. Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Student will assist with various duties and responsibilities as permitted by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy. This role is crucial in supporting the pharmacy team and ensuring that patients receive their medications safely and efficiently. The position requires a commitment to learning and adhering to pharmacy regulations and practices, as well as a dedication to providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers. In this role, the Pharmacy Technician Student will be responsible for accepting new written, faxed, or electronic prescription orders from prescribers or their agents. They will enter and retrieve information from the pharmacy's database or patient profile system, specifically using Epic software. The student will also prepare and affix labels to medication containers, stock dangerous drugs, and retrieve these drugs from inventory as needed. Additionally, they will count and pour dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by the pharmacist and package medications for patients or their representatives. The position may also involve other duties as assigned, within the scope of practice defined by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician Student is expected to actively pursue PTCB Certification or be enrolled in a Pharmacy Tech University program through The Network.
