About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Giant Eagle, you will play a vital role in our collaborative pharmacy team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional service to our patients, ensuring that their needs are met with compassion and efficiency. You will be instrumental in building strong relationships with patients, helping to exceed their expectations and providing safe, accurate, and efficient care. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the pharmacy field, as you will be trained in various aspects of pharmacy operations and patient care. In this role, you will welcome patients at all pharmacy entry points, acknowledging them with a smile and a friendly demeanor. You will model excellent patient care by engaging with patients, processing orders both in person and over the phone, and directing them to the appropriate products and services. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with company and government regulations. You will utilize pharmacy computer systems to maximize efficiency in patient care, handling tasks such as searching for patient profiles, managing prescription orders, and checking inventory levels. Additionally, you will assist your team in executing company initiatives and programs, contributing to the overall success of the pharmacy department. Completing the required training program and adhering to all policies, including HIPAA regulations, will be essential to your success in this role. Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and acknowledge them with compassion and a smile at all pharmacy entry points.
  • Model excellent patient care by engaging with patients and meeting their needs, including processing orders and directing them to products.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment to meet company and government requirements.
  • Assist team members with tasks to ensure the department runs efficiently.
  • Use the pharmacy computer to complete actions necessary for optimal patient care, including searching for patients and profiles.
  • Assist the team in action plans to improve outcomes using knowledge of service and business metrics.
  • Execute all company initiatives and programs as required.
  • Complete the required training program and accompanying exams.
  • Follow all company, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations, including HIPAA and Pseudoephedrine sales.
  • Finalize sales using the cash register according to established procedures.
  • Transcribe data from prescriptions accurately to generate custom labels for customers.
  • Assist with maintaining proper inventory levels by ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating drugs and supplies.
  • Answer telephone calls in a polite and timely manner, ensuring accurate information is exchanged.
  • Resolve customer questions and concerns effectively and efficiently.
  • File written prescriptions daily.

Requirements

  • Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
  • Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification or Licensing Preferred: Pharmacy Certification
  • Lifting Requirement: Up to 25 pounds
  • Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age
