About the position

The Pharmacy Technician position at MyMichigan Health is an entry-level role focused on supporting pharmacy operations. The technician will undergo training to effectively manage medication orders, compound IVs, and assist in various pharmacy tasks while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Runs reports, pulls medications and restocks Automated Dispensing Machines, follows up on narcotic discrepancies, trouble-shoots problems, aides and trains nurses on dispensing problems.
  • Compounds IV and piggyback medications, using aseptic technique and universal precautions, following USP 797 guidelines.
  • Runs labels using the computer in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Fills, reconciles and exchanges 24 hour UD medicine carts using McKesson robot and Cerner.
  • Repackages non-unit dose medications correctly using PacMed and McKesson repackager.
  • Replaces and fills floor stock: fills EMS boxes, crash cart trays, open heart meds and Omnicell Anesthesia carts and delivers to appropriate area; completes monthly floor stock on other hospital departments; stocks UD area and IV room if needed.

Requirements

  • Valid Pharmacy Technician License through the state of Michigan.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of annual exam for Aseptic Technique within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Computer experience, particularly with Microsoft Windows.
  • Good math skills and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical Terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Hospital or Retail Pharmacy experience preferred.
