About the position

The position involves assisting the pharmacist in various pharmacy operations under direct supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The role focuses on customer service, operational support, and maintaining pharmacy systems, while also providing training and support to pharmacy technicians and cashiers. The technician is responsible for processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and fostering relationships with customers and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers if certified (PTCB or ExCPT).
• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying correctness, and checking for interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the Pharmacy Department.
• Assist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare providers.

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• PTCB or ExCPT certification preferred for coaching pharmacy technicians.
• Experience in customer service within a pharmacy setting.
