About the position

We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at our Glen Burnie location. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal communication abilities, and a strong typing proficiency. This role requires a solid understanding of general computer operations, as well as strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for assisting the pharmacist and technician team in daily operational tasks, which include utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems, interacting with patients, and operating the register/payment system. Additionally, the technician will be involved in delivery preparation and may need to make occasional emergency prescription deliveries. Candidates must be able to read small print, lift containers weighing up to 20 lbs, and maintain mobility for extended periods. The position requires the ability to work holidays or participate in a holiday rotation. A minimum of two years of technician experience is required, with at least one year of retail pharmacy experience preferred. While a national certification (CPhT) is preferred, it is not mandatory. References from pharmacy managers or other staff pharmacists are required before an interview offer is made, and licenses will be verified through the Maryland Board of Pharmacy database. The work shift typically runs from Monday to Friday, with an opening shift from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, although this is flexible and may include occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacist and technician team in daily operational tasks such as utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems and interacting with patients.
  • Operate the register/payment system and prepare deliveries.
  • Contribute to the overall achievement of established organizational goals and mission; adhere to policies, procedures, quality, and safety standards.
  • Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Answer the telephone to respond to patient needs/requests.
  • Make occasional emergency prescription deliveries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills; written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong typing ability and general computer knowledge.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to read small print (patient names and addresses).
  • Ability to lift containers weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, be mobile, and operate a vehicle for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work holidays or be in a holiday rotation.
  • Minimum of two years technician experience required; one year retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Licensed to practice in Maryland; national certification preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves
