As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in assisting the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy. Your responsibilities will include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will also assist in various Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. If you hold a PTCB or ExCPT certification, you will have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers. Your role will involve engaging with customers and patients, greeting them, and offering assistance with products and services to ensure a positive customer experience. You will model and share customer service best practices with team members, focusing on interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Building strong relationships with valuable customers will be a key aspect of your position. In terms of operations, you will assist the pharmacist in various tasks, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medications, and checking for possible interactions. You will be responsible for reporting prescription errors, adhering to company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing, and managing cash register transactions. Additionally, you will handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention and assist with inventory management activities. You may also assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and coordinating with healthcare providers to enhance growth opportunities for the pharmacy. Maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy department and completing special assignments as assigned will also be part of your responsibilities. To succeed in this role, you will need to earn and maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification and attend training sessions to acquire continuing education credits. This position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the pharmacy and its customers.
