About the position

The Pharmacy Technician assists with drug preparation and dispensing under the supervision of a Pharmacist, ensuring compliance with state pharmacy regulations. This role involves filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and performing higher-level responsibilities such as compounding and servicing medication dispensing machines. The technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with drug preparation and dispensing under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
• Fill prescription items as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
• Perform higher-level pharmacy technician responsibilities such as Control Room and inventory control.
• Label products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
• Participate in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy.
• Check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove out-of-date items from inventory.
• Prepare medications including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding.
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
• Assist in the training of new employees.

Requirements

• Verifiable High School Diploma.
• Attendance mandatory for the first 90 days.
• 1 year of pharmacy tech experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
