About the position

The Pharmacy Technician at Providence St. Peter Hospital is responsible for the filling and dispensing of unit dose, IV, and chemotherapeutic medications to nursing units and ancillary departments. This role emphasizes prompt, safe, and accurate medication delivery while fostering a culture of patient-focused care and mutual respect among caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense unit dose, IV, and chemotherapeutic medications accurately and safely.
• Manage and troubleshoot Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM).
• Handle controlled drug management and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct training and competency validations for pharmacy staff.
• Perform medication supply management and reconciliation.
• Assist in outpatient pharmacy practices, including prescription processing and point of sale (POS) operations.
• Prioritize telephone calls and manage urgent situations effectively.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Level A program certified by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy or equivalent education/experience.
• Washington Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
• Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy technician experience with at least 0.5 FTE or greater.
• Proficient in IV admixture and aseptic technique skills.
• Experience in at least seven areas of pharmacy technician practice.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with stressful and urgent need situations.
• Tech Check Tech Certification.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
