About the position

The Philanthropy Communications Manager plays a crucial role within the North Carolina Chapter's Philanthropy team at The Nature Conservancy (TNC). This part-time position, requiring 20 hours per week, is responsible for developing and supporting the creation of all writing and design projects that enhance donor engagement strategies. Reporting to the Associate Director of Donor Engagement, the manager collaborates closely with all members of the Philanthropy team, as well as Marketing/Communications and Conservation colleagues, to ensure that materials produced for the NC Philanthropy program are of the highest quality, well-written, and visually appealing. This role is essential in enabling the Philanthropy team to respond effectively to emerging needs. The responsibilities of the Philanthropy Communications Manager include designing a variety of materials related to the NC Chapter's Philanthropy program. This encompasses fundraising campaign collateral, event invitations, fact sheets, proposals, stewardship reports, templates, slides, printed cards, digital cards, video content, fundraising ads for the Chapter's newsletter, infographics, and more. Additionally, the manager is tasked with drafting content for all written and presented materials associated with the NC Chapter's Philanthropy program, including renewal and thank-you letter templates, donor profile articles for newsletters, Legacy Club materials, event talking points, proposals, reports, and personalized correspondence for select donors. Another key aspect of the role involves facilitating the alignment of messaging across teams and supporting operational management for collaborative projects between the Philanthropy and Marketing/Communications teams. This includes crafting emails to various donor groups, developing social media strategies and content related to Philanthropy, and managing virtual donor programs and mailings. The manager will also interact with donors to create engaging content that inspires support, which may involve photographing and interviewing donors for newsletters and social media posts. Some administrative duties and occasional assistance with events may require working a few nights and/or weekends. At TNC, we believe in work that you can believe in, where every day offers the opportunity to make a difference. The Philanthropy Communications Manager serves as the primary writer and designer for fundraising communications within the North Carolina Chapter, contributing significantly to the mission of conserving the lands and waters upon which all life depends.
