About the position
The Philosophy Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching evening courses for the Spring 2025 semester at the campuses in Cranford, Elizabeth, and Plainfield. Faculty members are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and catalog descriptions, while incorporating interactive approaches and technologies. The role requires a commitment to diverse lifestyles and cultures, as well as the use of library resources and writing as instructional methods. Faculty must maintain accurate records, submit grades on time, and participate in the assessment of learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
- Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
- Utilizes library resources, writing, and academic technologies in courses.
- Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises the Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate grade and attendance records and submits required reports.
- Submits grades by the published deadline.
- Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
- Plans in advance for supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
- Submits progress reports on students and discusses any issues with appropriate personnel.
- Adheres to College policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in the discipline required unless otherwise specified.
- Some teaching experience is required.
- Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.
Nice-to-haves
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
