About the position
The Phlebotomist position at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields involves the collection and processing of blood specimens, along with various laboratory office duties. Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients.
- Perform laboratory office duties including patient registration and data entry.
- Accurately enter necessary data into the computer system.
- Accession specimens and process paperwork.
- Prepare specimens for testing or for sending to central/reference laboratories.
- Handle blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform limited waived and specified non-waived point-of-care tests as authorized.
- Act as a driver and participate in the on-call rotation as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
- Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
