About the position

As a One Medical Member Support Specialist/Lab Service Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our Senior Health member population (age 65+). Your responsibilities will include performing venipuncture, assisting with various clinical support services, and ensuring a positive patient experience. You will be the first point of contact for patient feedback and will support the office with daily management tasks, scheduling, and inventory upkeep. Your role is essential in creating a welcoming environment and facilitating seamless interactions between patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best in class venipuncture services on a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Manage dispensary responsibilities including verifying counts, maintaining inventory, placing orders, receiving and stocking, filling, packaging and labeling prescriptions for patient pick-up.
  • Answer patient messages, follow up on lab cases, and assist providers with clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Use C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions to ensure a positive in-office experience.
  • Perform front of house duties including check in/check out, insurance verification, and prepping tests.
  • Assist senior patients with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, sending faxes, and coordinating transportation.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, and supporting in-office providers.
  • Perform opening and closing duties/daily office upkeep as required.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the Internet and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • A proven track record of persisting through change and learning quickly when faced with new situations or tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Phlebotomy experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Experience with extended scope care including non-blood specimen collection and processing, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs preferred.
