About the position

The Phlebotomist in the Emergency Department is responsible for drawing blood from patients, labeling samples, and ensuring proper delivery to the laboratory. This part-time role requires flexibility in hours and participation in weekend shifts, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the emergency care team.

Responsibilities

  • Draws blood by capillary or venipuncture.
  • Labels tubes properly and delivers them to the lab according to laboratory policy and procedure.
  • Maintains order and organizes workload with phlebotomy staff and other hospital personnel.
  • Performs front office responsibilities, including processing extra tubes, centrifuging, and proper storage.
  • Loads specimens onto the Roche Modular Pre-Analytics (MPA) system.
  • Answers telephones and responds to inquiries from hospital personnel, visitors, or others.
  • Participates in training procedures as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred or successful completion of Phlebotomy training in an accredited Phlebotomy program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
